Reading – Luke 1: 1-4
“Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus, so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.”
Luke 1:1-4 NLT
Luke was a doctor. He was also a writer.
I just spent the better part of a week at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference. There I met doctors, teachers, police officers, students, retirees, and yes, even writers. We were all there to improve our writing skills, and connect with agents, publishers, and each other.
Like Luke, we all want to improve our ability to make the Good News of Jesus understandable to our readers. Some accomplish that through writing devotionals. Some write encouraging and informative non-fiction books. Some, like me, connect to our readers like Jesus did with parables by writing fiction.
Everyone has a story to tell.
Some, like me, have heads bulging with stories clambering to get out.
If you have a story to tell, I urge you to share it, either by writing it or by sharing it with a co-writer. And if you are a writer I urge you to get training to become the best writer possible.
What story(ies) do you have that are begging to be written?
What is keeping you from writing them?
