Monday – Gospels
Reading – Matthew 3-4
Highlight Verse:
“Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God.”
Matthew 3:8 NLT
This is John the Baptist speaking. The way he lived was radically repentant of sin.
If you’re wondering, locusts and wild honey were considered “clean” food.
Does that mean that we all need to live in the wilderness and eat locusts and wild honey.
Umm… NO!
But he did say “repented of your sins and turned to God”. That doesn’t mean we can be perfect. It does mean that we should be living our lives in a way that brings us closer to God and further from sin.
If we do that, people will see it and know that there is something different about us.
If they can’t tell the difference between us and those who are not living for God, we’d better take a closer look at what repentance means.
Can people tell that you are trying to live a life turned toward God?
What do you think repenting of sins should look like?
