Tuesday – Pentateuch

Reading – Exodus 13-14

Highlight Verse:

“When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.””
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭13‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I love road trips. My favorite part is taking detours.

Most of the coolest sites are along the back roads and in the small towns.

I moved from California to Virginia in 1990. On the way, I turned north off the main highway to see a big hole in the ground.

Even though it was tough to find parking for the moving truck, the view of the Grand Canyon was well worth the longer day and extra gas.

The Israelites had a huge detour through the wilderness.

Along the way, they learned to trust God and to work together.

It was not the quickest route but for me at that time, it was the best way.

Have you ever made plans just to have circumstances ruin them? Did you learn something along the detoured route?
