Thursday – Letters
Reading – 1 Timothy 3
Highlight Verse:
“Without question, this is the great mystery of our faith: Christ was revealed in a human body and vindicated by the Spirit. He was seen by angels and announced to the nations. He was believed in throughout the world and taken to heaven in glory.”
1 Timothy 3:16 NLT
I admit that I looked for thankfulness in today’s reading.
In the letters, it is not usually hard to find. Paul tends to be outspokenly thankful for all the people he writes to. That includes Timothy. Just not in this chapter.
So, I fell back on something to be thankful for – or, rather, someone.
God came to the earth in the form of a man, Christ.
That’s a real story in history which we celebrate in a festival that is officially a month and 2 days from now. But really, we celebrate the birth of Christ for the entire next month.
As we celebrate thankfulness today, let us draw that thankfulness out through the whole next month and celebrate the season of Christmas with an eye on how thankful we should be for God coming to meet us here on Earth.
Have you given thanks for the miracle of the birth of Christ today?
As we enter Advent, can you find something to be thankful for each day until Christmas?
