Friday – Prophets
Reading – Zechariah 7-8
Highlight Verses:
““This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another. Do not oppress widows, orphans, foreigners, and the poor. And do not scheme against each other.”
Zechariah 7:9-10 NLT
Zechariah takes us to school – Living Right – 101.
The people he spoke to were getting caught up in how they thought God wanted them to celebrate holidays.
Zechariah points them to what matters in two verses.
We humans tend to overcomplicate things.
If we truly follow what Zechariah just spelled out so plainly, we’ll avoid all kinds of sin.
I dare say that all sin, from immorality to selfishness and pride violates at least part of what Zechariah sets forth.
If we ran all our words and deeds through that check list, we’d see amazing results.
How does your life line up with Zechariah’s commands here?
Can you see how much we need to rely on Jesus when we really look at fulfilling these commands?
