Reading – John 16

Welcome to your preview of Easter.
When Jesus was crucified, His followers were crushed.
Imagine their joy when He rose from the grave!
He’s been risen for over 2000 years.
I’ve been around for more than 60 Easters.
It’s easy to let the joy slip away.
Sure, the chocolate bunnies, Peeps, and roasted ham bring a smile to my face, but that’s fleeting.
So, what brings me joy?
• When I’m teaching kids or students, and one understands and responds to the Gospel message…
• When I’m in a Sunday service and people respond to the Gospel…
• When a new believer emerges from the water at baptism with the joy of new life on their face…
These bring the joy of resurrection to my heart.
I love the fact that I am part of a church that sees things like this every week. It constantly renews the joy that came into my life when I first trusted in Jesus.
What brings you joy?
How do you renew that joy throughout your life?
