Reading – John 21:1-14
Highlight Verse:
“When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread.”
John 21:9 NLT
Today is the International Day of Light – When the handful of people who know about that designation celebrate the many aspects of light science.
I thought that might be a little too easy to write about since Jesus is the Light of the World.
I looked further and found it is also National Barbecue Day.
Now we’re talking.
My mind went immediately to a barbecue breakfast that Jesus prepared for the apostles after He rose from the dead.
Yes, I know that we in the US tend to barbecue beef and chicken more, not to mention pork ribs.
But it’s not about the fish or beef or whatever.
Eating together is one of the best forms of family or team building.
Jesus brought His team together over some fresh, smokey fish.
That team went from there to bring the Gospel to the world.
It’s a beautiful spring weekend here in Colorado.
A quick glance at the national weather map shows nice weather throughout the US with the exception of rain in the Northwest and a few thunderstorms in the Plains.
Almost whereever you are and what you like to grill, it’s a great time to get together for food, fellowship, and growth as friends and family.
As the warm season continues, we should continue that trend.
You never know, the next great revival could begin over a charcoal fire.

Who can you invite to eat with you this weekend?
What do you need to do to make fellowship happen this summer?
