Tuesday – Pentateuch
Reading – Numbers 1-2
Highlight Verse:
“But the Levites will camp around the Tabernacle of the Covenant to protect the community of Israel from the Lord’s anger. The Levites are responsible to stand guard around the Tabernacle.””
Numbers 1:53 NLT
The Levites were a special tribe of Israel that was set aside to take care of God’s business from packing and transporting the temple and its contents to acting as an ambassador between man and God.
Since we now have direct access to God, we don’t technically need priests. We can talk directly with God.
Still, there are those who are called by God into full-time ministry.
They have been set apart to point people to Jesus and to help people understand the things of God.
While Pastors and others in ministry are not selected from a single family, they are selected by God for ministry.
We would do well to honor them with the respect due their calling.
When was the last time you offered thanks or appreciation for those around you that are called to vocational ministry?
How does you church show appreciation for its pastor(s)?
