Reading – Revelation 12

Highlight Verses:

“His tail swept away one-third of the stars in the sky, and he threw them to the earth. He stood in front of the woman as she was about to give birth, ready to devour her baby as soon as it was born. She gave birth to a son who was to rule all nations with an iron rod. And her child was snatched away from the dragon and was caught up to God and to his throne.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭12‬:‭4‬-‭5‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Things were looking bleak in this scenario.

The imagery here is commonly considered to represent the birth of Christ (the woman represents Israel, the child – Jesus, and the dragon – Satan).

I might be tempted to talk about all the nuances of the imagery but, if you know me, you know I want to get right down to what this passage tells us about how we should live today.

These verses paint a picture of the dragon thinking he will win a decisive victory and snatch the child.

At the Cross, Satan thought he had won a great victory.

But it was all part of God’s plan.

God makes a habit of snatching victory out from the devil.

He did it at the cross.

He’s done it for me.

He can do it for you!

What bleak situations has God snatched you out of?
Are you in need of rescue now? How can we pray for you?
