Reading – Job 21-22

Highlight Verse:

““Why do the wicked prosper, growing old and powerful?”
‭‭Job‬ ‭21‬:‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Job has a valid question.

There are plenty of wicked people who are wealthy and have lived comfortable, easy lives.

There are wise financial principles that can develop wealth through godly living. But that’s not how every wealthy person got that way.

Some were born into it.

Some got there through dishonest means.

Some got there through hard work, invention, and/or wise decisions.

All the while, many faithful and wise believers spend their lives in financial poverty.

It doesn’t seem fair.

Until you look at two other types of wealth.

• Spiritual wealth. The wealthy who shun God go through their existence on earth missing an essential element of life. They have never experienced the joy that true life brings.
• Eternal wealth. Life on earth is just a tiny fraction of eternity. Those who have accepted Jesus have accepted an eternal life in the presence of the life-giver. Those who have not accepted Jesus – will not have such a joyful eternal life to put it mildly.

I’m not particularly wealthy, but I have the abundant wealth of faith, family, and fellowship.

No amount of financial gain could bring more joy than that.

What is your source of joy?
Would more financial wealth add to (or subtract from) your joy?
