Reading – Job 23-24

Highlight Verse:

“I’d find out what his answers would be. I’d think about what he would say to me.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭23‬:‭5‬ ‭NIRV‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

I was working on some elementary curriculum before I started writing this.

When I saw this chapter in the NIRV that I was using for the kids, I liked it. It is a simple language Bible translation.

Sometimes we need to look at God’s Word in simpler terms.

I’m not saying we should study deep theological doctrines with simplified translations.

I am saying that we overcomplicate things.

Job goes on and on about how he doesn’t understand why God is allowing him to go through his trials.

But in this verse, he is basically saying that he will accept God’s answer to his pleas.

Plain and simple, Job would accept God’s Word.

We would do well to accept the Basic truths of the Bible as they are.

To be simple – God loves us and rescued us if we will accept Him.

And He expects us to love God and love others.

We can get into the finer points of theology. There is nothing wrong with that.

Unless is distracts us from the basics.

Love God. Love people.

What do you consider to be the basic truths of the Bible?
Have you ever let the complexities of deeper theology distract you from those basics?
