Reading – Job 25-26

Highlight Verse:

“How can a mortal be innocent before God? Can anyone born of a woman be pure?”
‭‭Job‬ ‭25‬:‭4‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Bildad had it right – partly.

In Genesis we can read about the fall of mankind.

In Romans we read that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.

We all need the sacrifice of Jesus to be eligible for fellowship with God.

So Bildad’s perspective was not too far off.

Except when he introduces what is often called “worm theology.”

Yes, we fall short right from the beginning. We fight our tendency to sin every day of our lives.

But we are also fearfully and wonderfully made, called with a purpose, and children of God.

We need to recognize our need for God and then walk forth in his calling on our lives.

So, the next time you are down on yourself and tempted to dwell on your shortcomings or wallow in your faults, remember that you are a new creation in Christ Jesus.

That, my friend, is awesome!

Have you struggled with self esteem or bought into the exaggerations of worm theology?
What advice can you give those struggling with these thoughts?
