Reading – Job 27-28

Highlight Verse:

“And this is what he says to all humanity: ‘The fear of the Lord is true wisdom; to forsake evil is real understanding.’””
‭‭Job‬ ‭28‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

I live in Colorado.

In the second half of the 19th century, many thousands of people chased after wealth in mines throughout the mountains.

Most ended up broke.

A few got very wealthy. But even most of them were spiritually bankrupt.

Many fear poverty and ignore spiritual wealth.

Today’s verse tells us to fear God.

The Hebrew word does not imply cowering or trembling but rather respect and reverence and awe.

If you are in awe of God and His wisdom and power and love for you, you will trust Him and follow what He says instead of trying to do things under your own feeble wisdom and power.

Of course, I am not calling any of you feeble any more than I am calling myself that and more.

I have trusted in my own efforts many times, usually to great disappointment.

And I have trusted God many times.

He has never let me down.

What do you need to trust God for today?
Is there anything you are stubbornly trusting in your own strength for?

Thankfulness moment:
Today I am thankful for the times I have trusted God over my own thoughts and for the many times He has proven Himself right.
